When to Plant Evergreens
In every part of the world, climate plays an important role when determining the suitable planting time for plants. Some of the newly planted evergreens have the best growth when exposed to certain moderate temperature and rainfall also. And so they need some time to root into the soil and therefore acclimatize before the beginning of severe heat and dryness of summer or during the freezing temperatures of winter. Therefore, seasons like spring and fall, are normally the best planting seasons.Steps to Planting Evergreen Trees
The steps that are to be followed to plant evergreens are not just some simple steps as just digging a hole and then putting the tree in it. If you want the tree which you are planting to stay alive and thrive, then you may follow the steps that are provided here.- Initially one has to dig the hole as deep as the root ball and it should be twice as wide.
- Then you have to check if the soil around the hole made is too hard or not. Hard soil is to be loosened a bit with the shovel.
- Now the tree can be placed in the hole and making sure that the soil remains at the same level on the tree as when the tree grew previously.
- Now fill in around the root ball with soil and then pack the soil with hands and make sure that no air pockets remain inside the soil.
- After that you have to make a little dam around the base of the tree planted. It is made as wide as the hole with all the left over soil or some grass clumps so that it can hold in the water.
- Finally you have to provide your new evergreen a well soaking of water just to help the new plant to settle into its new home.
One has to take care of the newly planted evergreen and this always means watering, fertilizing around your tree and applying insecticides and pesticides. Programs for plantation of evergreens can also be arranged to save our nature from destruction and to present a green world to our future generations.
